Social events, such as welcome reception, get-together, social evening, speakers' evening or touristic supporting programme, taking place in the course of a congress, offer an excellent opportunity for communication and to create and extend a variety of networks.
 
This opportunity can most successfully be used, the better the social event is tailored to match the event and its participants, the more uniform solutions are avoided and the more comfortable the participants feel at the event.
