Welcome to COSMODERM XVI!

Dear friends and colleagues,

On behalf of the European Society for Cosmetic and Aesthetic Dermatology (ESCAD) and as chairman of this congress it is my pleasure to invite you to participate in COSMODERM XVI to be held December 9-12, 2010 in Dresden, Germany.

As a part of an international congress series, COSMODERM outlines a forum where clinical dermatologists, academic dermatologists, and scientists have an excellent opportunity to discuss both background and practical impact of ageing, aesthetics and related conditions and diseases, and to experience the latest developments and achievements in technology, technical equipment, and drug development.

Distinguished speakers from Europe and overseas as well as associating societies such as the European Society of Preventive, Regenerative and Anti-Aging Medicine (ESAAM), the Cosmetic Dermatology Society of India (CSI), the German Society for Botulinum Toxin Therapy (DGBT), the Working Committee of Associated Dermatology Institutes (AADI), and the Saxonian Society for Dermatology will ensure a scientific program of highest quality.

Both the latest news and the golden standard in the fields of well ageing and skin care, cosmetic-aesthetic procedures in skin rejuvenation, laser therapy as well as issues of dermato-surgery will be discussed in plenary lectures, symposia and poster sessions. It is of utmost importance that workshops and hands-on trainings will be provided for the most interested participants. Those who are interested in history of medicine will be surprised to get to know that the hospital in Dresden-Friedrichstadt is one of the first places where aesthetic surgery has been developed in German dermatology.

Besides the scientific contents, the city of Dresden, capital of Saxony, is one of the most attractive cities in Central Europe. Dresden is situated on the banks of the Elbe River, a place where baroque meets the future, a town of culture and science. We will present you Dresden with a special flavor – the seasonal time when the famous “Striezel” market welcomes more than 2 million visitors from all over the world.

Dresden offers to all its visitors a variety of facets, one exceptional is the Church of Our Lady, destroyed in the last days of World War II but reconstructed in the last years as a sign of peace and friendship between people and nations.

I am looking forward to welcome you to Dresden, known as “Florence at the Elbe river” in December!
